📍 Week 1: Administrative Tasks are Priority #1

• Get your SIN (Social Insurance Number) immediately.

• Register for provincial health insurance (Health Insurance Card).

• Open a bank account and get a local phone number.

📍 Week 2: Settle into Housing

• Familiarize yourself with nearby supermarkets (No Frills, Walmart, Costco...) to optimize costs.

• Get a public transportation card (Presto, Compass Card...).

• Register your children for school (if applicable).

📍 Week 3: Connect and Integrate

• Take the driving test (even if you haven’t bought a car yet, it’s good to have a driver’s license as ID).

• Join Vietnamese communities in Canada to learn from others’ experiences.

• Look into free English classes (LINC) if you need to improve your language skills.

📍 Week 4: Prepare for Long-Term Goals

• Learn about the work culture and attend job fairs.

• Plan to stabilize your family’s finances.

Don't stress! Give yourself and your family time to adjust to the climate and time zone in Canada. It’s truly a beautiful country, and PathCAN believes that with proper planning and preparation, adapting to life here won’t be too difficult.
